“The Wild Call” is loosely based on Jack London’s novel of the same name. It’s the story of a dog, Buck, who reconnects with his distant origins as a wild dog and a wolf. Gradually, the puppeteers are pushed to question the notion of the wild, and the fundamental reasons for their presence at this performance. A fresco of shadow theatre and music, to be watched under the stars. An oversized screen is the shadow theatre playing surface. Audiences soon realise that they are “behind” the screen, seeing a show in the making. Little by little, the puppeteers become interpreters of their own questions about the notion of the “wild”.
