On the occasion of the bicentenary of the birth of Maurice Sand (1823-1889), the Centre for National Monuments, the FMTM and the Musée de l’Ardenne are joining forces in 2023 to organise an exhibition on puppet theatre. Bringing together more than a hundred works from the collections of George Sand’s house in Nohant, most of which have never been shown before, this event aims to highlight Maurice Sand’s intense activity as a creator and animator of the puppet theatre. The intense activity developed by Maurice Sand around the castelet is reflected in the many objects on display in the exhibition. Visitors are invited to enter the heart of the creative process through a selection of sets, puppets, costumes and accessories.
